Fatima Al Fihria

This delightful room with vibrant yellow handpainted stencil motifs on the wall, and a bright, sunflower-coloured headboard, will bring Morocco’s intense sun into your stay. Arched niches in the wall hold pretty ceramic jars.

The cheery yellow theme carries on into the bathroom, with yellow-coloured bath gel and decorative wall tiles.

We’ve named this room after the founder of the world’s first university – a woman. In 859 Fatima Al Fihria used an inherited family fortune to found a mosque with a higher learning institute inside it - what is known today as the University of Qarawiyyin in Fes, Morocco. It was regarded as one of the leading spiritual and educational centres of the Muslim world.
